Passed away 11 October 2005 - age 62
Roy Anthony Oursin, 62, of 1625 Kings Road, Sydney, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Frank and Louise (Edwards) Oursin.
He served 29 years with the Royal Canadian Army as a cook traveling inside
Canada and beyond. After his retirement from the forces, he worked with the CBRM. Roy was a talented woodworker, building many pieces of fine furniture for his friends and family to enjoy. Most of all he enjoyed his family gatherings. He is survived by his wife, the former Diana Cable; three daughters, Lis (Ron) Harrison, Winnipeg, Diane, Kitchener, Jennifer (Glen) Alton, Sierra Leone, West Africa; one son, George (Andrea), Halifax; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Tubrett, Sydney, Mrs. Anna Cameron, New Waterford, Jeannie Briand; three brothers, Frank 'Bucky' (Helen), Ernie (Barbara) and David (Tracey), all of Sydney.
Visitation for the late Roy Oursin will take place Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Melrose Wilson officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Donations in Roy's memory may be made to the C.B. Palliative Care Society.
