Elinor, age 87, of Hanley and Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully at Saskatoon City Hospital on Friday, December 9, 2016. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16 at Hanley Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Kristin Soveran. The Interment will follow at the Hanley Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Hanley Lutheran Church will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
Elinor was predeceased by her husband of 38 years Oswald (Ozzie) in 1986; and her parents George and Frieda Ursaki. She is survived by her five sons Lyle (Linda), Lorie (Donna), Lowell (Donovan), Lew (Raelene) and Lyndon (Jo-Anne); ten grandchildren Tricia (Allan), Brad (Roxanna), Christina (Jamie), Kendra (Jon), Ryan (Amy), Devin, Cassandra (Nick), Kelsey (Jenna), Ali, and Ozzie; six great-grandchildren Orin, Katelyn, twins Chase and Dallon, Sophia, and Lincoln; and her sister Lorraine Schuster.
Elinor and Ozzie were married in Southey, SK in 1948. After living several years in both Cupar and Punnichy, they moved to Hanley where they operated Neher's Grill with their boys for 24 years. Everyone especially enjoyed the homemade Neher burgers and fries. After Ozzie's passing, Elinor spent several years working at the Dundurn Military Base kitchen and later enjoyed selling Avon products to friends in Hanley. She lived over fifty years in Hanley, before moving to a seniors' residence in Saskatoon a couple years ago. The family is grateful for the compassion and care shown to Elinor by the staff at the three Saskatoon hospitals during her last few months.
She was a long-time member of Hanley Lutheran Church until her passing. She is remembered for her cooking and especially her home baked pies. She looked forward each day to joining her friends for coffee at the local Hanley restaurant. Elinor always made sure she looked her best with her hair, makeup, outfit and jewelry perfect before heading out to meet family and friends. She is loved, and will be sadly missed by them all.
