J. Lloyd Melanson (January 8, 1943 - March 26, 2016)
MELANSON, Joseph Lloyd (Ret’d RCAF Captain) - Age 73, of Saulnierville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 26, 2016, with his family by his side. Born in Concession, he was a son of the late Emile and Agnes (Doucet) Melanson. Lloyd joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1960 and retired in 1995. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Clare Branch no. 52, Saulnierville. After his retirement from the Canadian Forces, he served 14 years as a dedicated service officer. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Majella “Mary” (Comeau) Melanson; sons, Blair, Thailand; Michael (Louanne), Brandon, MB; Troy (Crystal), Parrsboro; Shawn, Truro; daughters, Cynthia Melanson, Ottawa, and Chantal Hollet, Dartmouth; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brothers, Neil (Jeannette), Ottawa; Nelson (Jeanne Marie), Meteghan River; Reginald (Barbara), Smith’s Cove; sister, Paulette (Alyre) Theriault, Saulnierville; sister-in-law, Lucy Melanson (Guy), Hectanooga. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roy, and one grandson in infancy.
Lloyd’s family would like to thank the staff of 4th floor East, Dr Gillis, Dr. Henteleff and Dr. Railey of Yarmouth Hospital who took such good care of Lloyd during his stay there. In keeping with Lloyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Lloyd’s memory.
