Passed away 20 March, 2022 - age 83
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas James Walmsley, a resident of Oliver, British Columbia, on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
Doug was born to Virginia and William Walmsley on May 17, 1938. He was one of six children and grew up in Cranbrook, BC.
Doug married Morag Ellen Symington on August 3, 1963 and joined the Canadian Air Force the same year. This started their love of travel and adventure with their first home in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan followed by Germany, Italy, Chilliwack BC, Trenton Ontario, Comox BC, Churchill Manitoba, Cold Lake Alberta, Borden Ontario with his last posting in Wainwright Alberta before moving to the farm in Gundy near Dawson Creek BC and finally to Oliver BC.
Doug loved to say he had an international family with his wife born in Malaya, oldest son born in Germany, daughter born in Italy and youngest son born in Canada.
Doug leaves his loving family: wife Morag Walmsley, sons Bill (Bonnie) Walmsley, Colin (Keri) Walmsley, daughter Jacqui (Fred) Burton, his brothers Tom Walmsley, Gordon (Joan) Walmsley and sisters Doreen (Doug) Rooney and Diane Johnson, grandchildren Heather (Clinton) Stratuliak, Cajun Bardgett, Brynn and Ash/Rowan Walmsley, great grandchildren Jaleena and Hela Bardgett and knowing he had twin great grandsons coming soon, as well as many extended family and friends too numerous to mention.
Doug was predeceased by his parents and brother John Walmsley and his wife Eleanor, brother-in-law Barry Johnson and sister-in-law Alice Walmsley.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Doug will be interred at a later date with his parents in the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.
