Passed away 22 March, 2022 - age 87
It is with great sorrow that the family of Thaddee (Ted) Joseph Melanson (MWO) announce his passing on 22 Mar 2022. Ted was born in Scoudouc, NB on 6 March 1935. He was a son of the late Lionel and Emma (Dupuis) Melanson.
Ted left home at the tender age of 17 to serve his country in the Canadian Armed Forces, to see the world and stay out of jail. After a few years, he began to feel that perhaps the military was not the right choice. Ted worked very hard to be released from the CAF but could not get kicked out. His exasperated superiors finally offered him a posting to France, this move changed his life forever. It was there he met the love of his life, Bernadette Imhoff of Moselle. They were married February 8, 1958. Ted served for 35 years, which included tours of Egypt, Cyprus, France and Germany. Much of his career was in Greenwood, where they retired.
Ted (and Bernie) were snowbirds and enjoyed 25 winters of sunshine and Florida golf. He was also a member of the Paragon Golf Club in Kingston for many years. Ted has the distinction (bragging rights) of having 4 holes in one in 3 different courses in NS and one in Florida.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his, precious daughter Catherine, sister Janita Vautour and his daughter- in- law, Netsanet. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernadette, his daughter Michelle (aka Mickey) (Kevin Campbell); son Stephen; brother, Roger (Shirley); grandchildren, Jonah and Vincent Campbell, Mallorie and Emma Marie Lemaire.
Ted requested no formal visitation or service be held but donations in his memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Ukraine Relief Fund or the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St, Middleton, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook maybe signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
