BAINS - John passed away October 29, 2002 in Burnaby, BC. John was born May 7, 1918 to Arthur and Meta Bains in Seimans, SK, where he attended his first eight years of school. John joined the Royal Canadian Artillery, 14th Field Regiment, 17th Field Battery and later joined the Merchant Navy as a gunner and cook, until 1946.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, George and his first wife, Kay. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two brothers, Richard and Norman and two sisters, Elizabeth Foley and Dorothy Barry. A memorial service will take place at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave., Burnaby on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the George Derby Centre, 7502 Cumberland Street, Burnaby, BC V3N 3X5
