Passed away 3 March, 2022 - age 79
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilfrid Joseph Thornton of Oshawa. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Known for his tender heart, gracious charm and strength, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and dear friend. He is survived by his devoted wife Beverley, daughter Ashley, his sons Mike(Jamie), Ainsley, Greg(Tracy) and Joe(Becky). Also left to mourn are his adored 15 grandchildren his sister Jenny, his brother Jim and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be joining his mum, dad and brother Claire amongst the stars.
Through his 40 years in the Canadian armed forces and throughout his life he always imparted an encouraging and welcoming smile to everyone he met or shared his presence with. He worked hard to build up himself and others around him. His caring and supportive nature allowed people around him to know that they could lean on him. His courage, determination and charm defined him. Wilfrid will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends.
