Passed away 3 December 2020 - age 90
Palmer, James Ernest... After a long battle with prostate cancer James ( Ernie) Palmer passed away in his 90th year among family and friends at Belleville Hospital on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Born on December 28, 1930 to the late Patrick and Margrite (Bowman) Palmer in Frankford, ON. He is predeceased by brothers Charles, Thomas, and Hubert and by sisters Della, Beatrice and Helen. He is survived by sister-in-law Norma Palmer. James was married to the late Mildred Mae Palmer (Foshay) for forty-six years. He is survived by eight children with his first wife Mildred: Loretta (John), Janice (Michael, deceased), Karen (Lewis), Ronald (Carol), Earl (Laurie), Neil (Valerie), Jeannette (Robert)&( Timothy, deceased),& Ada. He had 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St, Elizabeth (Peterborough)and Care Partners in Peterborough, & Belleville ON and VON in Belleville ON. Also special thanks to the attending doctors of Peterborough & Belleville ON, the palliative care providers and the ever caring and patient PSW’s . In addition a special thank you goes out to Mr Robert McGuire and spouse Bonnie TWA of Peterborough who so unselfishly provided meals and transportation and foremost companionship which our Dad greatly appreciated. Also a thank you is in store for Ruth, the land lady who allowed numerous alterations at the Palmer residence to accommodate his health needs. He and his many tales of yesteryear will be sorely missed by friends and family at his daily visits to the local coffee shop. Many thanks to friends and family who graciously offered assistance and attended to his daily needs towards the end of his life. Special thanks to all the front line workers for their dedication throughout this covid 19 pandemic.
Private funeral arrangements are at Weaver Life Centre, 29 Bay Street, Trenton, ON followed by interment at St Georges Cemetery at Quinte West (Second Doug Hill Rd.) where he will be laid to rest next to spouse Mildred Palmer.
