Passed away 30 April 2016 - age 75
Peacefully on April 30th 2016, at the age of 75 surrounded by family at the Ottawa General Hospital. He was the son of the late Verna Entwistle and the late Frank David O'Hara. He leaves in sorrow his loving children Shawn O'Hara (Claire Milton) and Lynn Masey (Paul). He was the cherished grandfather of Kristina, Nicholas, Courtney, Rosalie and Mary. Bob leaves his bestfriend and "Sweetheart" Frances Dixon, as well as Frances' children Louise, Mark, Richard, their children and family friends Georgette and Lynn along with his close friends, Mohammed, Max, Rob and their families. Dad leaves behind his sister Betty Bone (Don Wake), as well as his nieces Sheri and Nancy, his cousins and many friends.
Dad retired from the Royal Canadian Navy in 1992 after 33 years of Food Service. He was proud of his grandchildren and loved his yearly visits to Nova Scotia to see his family. Many wonderful memories will be cherished; apple picking and watching all the grandchildren's events. He loved sports such as football, baseball but he was especially a Montreal Canadian and an Ottawa Senators fan. Bob loved to garden and keep busy helping others in any way he could. He also enjoyed the outdoors and travelling. Our dad was a caring and thoughtful man who fought a valiant battle with cancer, always with a smile for us. He will be dearly missed by his family, extended family and close friends. The family would like to give many thanks to the staff, doctors and Palliative Care team at the Ottawa General Hospital for dad's care.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, May 5th 2016 at 11 a.m. at McEvoy's Shields Funeral Home Chapel (1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa). In Memory of Dad, donations to the Canadian Cancer Societyor a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Life stories may be shared online at www.mcevoy-shields.com; 613-241-3680
