Passed away 6 May 2018 - age 87
Nelson May Born in Point Rosie, (Enragee), Newfoundland, September 9, 1930, the youngest of 7 children. As a young boy, he worked at inshore fishing and later worked on a dredge before moving to Halifax. There he worked various jobs before joining the Canadian Armed Forces on June 1952. My dad served in an Infantry Unit (Highland Regiment) in the first few years, then remustered into cooking. Nelson travelled extensively in the military, Germany, Cyprus, Egypt, Alert and all across Canada. He was well liked by everyone he met. He was a social man, with a great sense of humor. Dad was very proud of his military service of 25 years, plus 12 years as a civilian employee of Base Foods, and a NATO veteran.
He was a devoted husband and father. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Lorena, on February 27, 2017 after 53 years of marriage. Survived by his only child, daughter Suzanne. Predeceased by his parents, and 6 siblings.
