Passed away 6 January 2010 - age 72
LAYBOLT, Ernest Allan "Ernie" 72, of Lower Ship Harbour, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2010, in Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by family. Born in East Petpeswick on January 24, 1937, he was a son of the late Cecil and Blanche (Warner) Laybolt. Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley (Cady); sons, Ken (Dawn) Rasmussen of Bradford, Ont.; Steven (Donna) Laybolt of Cold Lake, Alta.; daughter, Darlene Laybolt of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Amy, Nic, Brody, Courtney, and Kenny; siblings, Francis (Larry), Charles, Clifford (Janet), Mildred (Bruce); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, baby Joseph and brother, Lawrence. Ernie retired as a Master Warrant Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces after serving from 1956 - 1991. He also served in several positions including president of Four Harbours Branch 120 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was involved in the Parish Council at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in East Ship Harbour. Ernie will always be remembered by friends and family for his wonderfully detailed stories, sense of humor, and warm heart. He loved taking long walks through the woods with his beloved pets Bo and BJ.
Visitation will be in Rowlings Funeral Home in Musquodoboit Harbour Sunday, January 10, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral will be Monday, January 11, in St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in East Ship Harbour at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Harbours Branch 120 of the Royal Canadian Legion
