Passed away 4 July 2009 - age 46
PO2 Harley passed away at 46 from brain cancer. He was a wonderful man, well liked and respected by many, he was full of life, very smart and took his military service seriously. After 20 years of the cook trade he got promoted to PO2 and posted to Comox BC, just 1 and half hours from his hometown of Port Alberni.
His career was heading for another promotion to PO1, just after 2 years of his posting, but sadly, he started getting symptoms of a stroke, which ended up being a brain tumor. The diagnoses was devastating, terminal cancer, stage 4, no cure. A fast aggressive growing cancer that took his life just 11 months from the time he was diagnosed. He battled the cancer and was so determined to beat it, a battle he eventually lost on the 4th of July 2009.
For everyone that knew him, they all had the utmost respect for him. he was a hard worker and as a PO2, he was fair, accommodating, and respected. I was so proud to be his wife. I miss him, everyday. A huge loss to his family, his friends and his career. RIP my Angel, until we meet again, love you forever. Dawn, wife, friend and soulmate.
